October Surprise

From The Copy Desk: Gravity is relentless and entropy eternal. All well-stacked structures of both the tangible and intangible realms will eventually fall. For now, while there still is a critical mass of balance left, The Boys are heading into winter a wee bit behind on the essential chores.

“Hey Warren get up off your butt and help me out here,” Marty shouted from the garden. “These garlic bulbs need planting. Get cracking.”
Warren grabbed the basket of bulbs and began breaking them down into individual cloves while Marty finished raking the freshly-tilled soil. “Our dirt looks pretty good after all the amendments we added this year,” Marty said.
So The Boys went on to poke the garlic bulbs into the ground and also planted spinach, which after it sprouts will be mulched for over-wintering and a quick start in spring.
“It’ll be great to get spinach in early spring, fresh greens always mean the start of garden season for me,” Warren said. “And so far this fall has been warm enough that we’ve still got local greens for salads tonight.”
Marty smiled a bit and thought about the surprise he’s planned for dinner. “Let’s clean up and go eat. I’ve got salads made and fixings on the table,” Marty said.
Marty sat down first and started tossing extras on his salad - toasted sunflower hearts are a favorite - and then he grabbed the salad dressing ….. Spooky Ranch ….. and poured some on the salad.
“Ick. What’s all over your salad. It’s black,” Warren said. In the dim early evening light, the bottle on the table seemed to glow. “What’s with the glowing bottle. Is this Trinity Site Ranch?” Warren asked.
Marty explained it’s just marketing - which is why there was good coupon and he took the deal. “I did read the label to see what they used to make it black. It’s just fruit juice and cocoa powder, so it should be safe,” Marty said.
From The Copy Desk: While the advent of holiday-themed salad dressing may seem unimportant, we see it as a form of fiddling while Rome burns.
     Stay safe, be well. ❤️ & 🥬
